(Click to see larger image) Narishige's A-3 Muscle Fixing Apparatus with Micromanipulator facilitates insertion of a microelectrode into muscle or nerve fibers by gripping both ends of the muscle or nerve fiber and holding it under tension by stretching both ends mildly. The A-2, which grips and stretches both ends of muscle fibers and holds them under tension, is mounted on this manipulator. In addition to the three-dimensional coarse movement, fine movement in the Z-axis is included to enable vertical adjustment.
