(Click to see larger image) Narishige's B-9 ball joint adapter is used to attach patch clamp headstage holders such as AP-12/ AP-13-2 to micromanipulators such as MHW-3 at convenient angles freely and easily because it can tilt and rotate, allowing approach from different angles. A more stable option is the UST-1 Universal Joint, which can swing and tilt, but not rotate freely.
