(Click to see larger image) Narishige's MMO-220A is a one-dimensional oil hydraulic micromanipulator that adds fine movement capability in the same direction as the pipette.

When using this unit to insert a pipette into the cell, operators can make further movement along the axis of the pipette, which minimizes the chance of damaging the cell. This single-axis oil hydraulic micromanipulator is typically use as an add-on manipulator. The compact drive unit is installed on the tip of a ball joint, adding the same high precision as a general oil hydraulic micromanipulator. The MMO-220A uses a standard drum and can be combined with any kind of three-dimensional manipulator, including lower-cost mechanical units.
