Growth Differentiation Factors (GDFs) are a subfamily of proteins belonging to the Transforming Growth Factor beta superfamily. The functions of GDFs are primarily in development.

Recombinant human GDF-15 (D-variant) is a non-glycosylated, disulfide linked homodimer. Produced in E. coli, it is comprised of two identical 120 amino acid monomers and has a total molecular mass of 26.8 kDa. There is a His to an Asp substitution at position 7. |
