Fluorescence Lifetime Micro Oxygen Monitoring SystemThis fiber optic oxygen monitoring system uses a fluorescence lifetime technique to achieve highly stable measurements of oxygen consumption in very small samples. It is frequently?used for biological measurements such as mitochondrial oxygen uptake, islet oxygen consumption rate (OCR) and enzyme reaction rates. The optical sensors have several advantages over polarographic electrodes, including lower maintenance, longer-lasting calibrations, no stirring artifacts, virtually zero oxygen consumption by the sensor, excellent performance at low pO2 levels, a lower temperature coefficient, and the ability to measure gaseous as well as dissolved oxygen. The system is available with either 175, 500 or 1000 μL chambers and in one to four channel configurations. The software can control up to eight channels.
