This protein is synthesized and released from cells as a single-chain proenzyme with limited enzymatic activity and is converted to an active two-chain disulfide-linked active enzyme by plasmin and other specific proteinases. Recombinant human PLAUR, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
