Description
Purified anti-Betatrophin (ANGPTL8). Betatrophin (ANGPTL8) is a hormone that plays important roles in triglyceride (TG) and glucose metabolism. It is primarily expressed in liver and fat cells. Transient expression of betatrophin in mouse liver cells significantly promotes pancreatic β cell proliferation, expands β cell mass, and improves glucose tolerance. Absence of betatrophin profoundly disrupts TG metabolism. These findings suggest that betatrophin could prove clinically important in the treatment of diabetes and other degenerative and metabolic disorders.
