The Ansh Labs' Oxyntomodulin (OXM) ELISA is a quantitative two-step sandwich immunoassay. OXM causes weight loss via suppression of food intake and increase in energy expenditure. OXM administration was also reported to increase heart-rate in mice. Besides regulating glucose homeostasis in monogastric animals, OXM also increases the concentration of insulin and glucose in plasma of Holstein cattle under normal physiological conditions. It has been shown that Type 2 diabetes patients have lower levels of OXM and levels increase more than 10-fold after gastric bypass surgery.
