Description
Purified anti-FMRP. Fragile X mental retardation protein 1 (FMRP) is an RNA binding protein important for normal cognitive development. In fragile X syndrome, abnormal expansion of CGG trinucleotide repeats in FMR1, the gene that encodes FMRP, leads to methylation and silencing of this gene. Altered FMPR expression levels leads to severe learning deficits or mental retardation.
