It binds to the receptor tyrosine kinases EPHB1 and EPHA1. This protein also binds Eph receptors residing on adjacent cells which affect signaling to neighboring cells. It plays a role in cellular migration, axon guidance, osteoclast differentiation and function, cardiac muscle morphogenesis, and tumorigenesis. Recombinant human EFNB1 protein, fused to hIgG-His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
