UV-Vis spectroscopy is routinely used for the quantitative determination of different analytes, including biological macromolecules. Different molecules absorb ultraviolet or visible light of different wavelengths. An UV-Vis absorption spectrum will show a number of absorption bands corresponding to structural groups within the molecule.
