Description
Function: May play a role at the plasma membrane in the maintenance of the structure of epithelial cells and in the transmission of extracellular signals to the membrane and cytoskeleton.Subcellular location: Cell junction. Cell membrane, Peripheral membrane protein. Note: Localized at sites of cell-cell contact.Tissue specificity: Highly expressed in the placenta and prostate. Expressed at a lower level in the thyroid, spinal cord, trachea, adrenal gland, skeletal muscle, pancreas, heart, brain, liver and kidney. A short splice product shows more limited expression, being absent from at least the brain. Also known as: Discs large protein P-dlg, Placenta and prostate DLG, DLG5, PDLG.
Immunogen
A synthetic peptide to the c-terminal region of human Disks large homolog 5 (DLG5) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the antigen.
