Description
Function: Required for perception of chronic pain through NMDA receptor signaling. Regulates surface expression of NMDA receptors in dorsal horn neurons of the spinal cord. Interacts with the cytoplasmic tail of NMDA receptor subunits as well as inward rectifying potassium channels. Involved in regulation of synaptic stability at cholinergic synapses. Part of the postsynaptic protein scaffold of excitatory synapses.Subcellular location: Membrane, Lipid-anchor. Cell junction ?? synapse ?? postsynaptic cell membrane ?? postsynaptic density. Cell junction ?? synapse. Note: Concentrated in soma and postsynaptic density of a subset of neurons.Tissue specificity: Brain. Highest levels of isoform1 in cortex,olfactory bulb, thalamus, hypothalamus, striatum and hippocampus. Highest level of isoform2 inolfactory bulb. Reduced levels in cortex and hippocampus. Highest level of isoform4 in spinal cord. Low levels of isoform4, isoform6, and isoform7 in superior cervical ganglion. Immunogen
A synthetic peptide from n-terminal region (phospho S28) of human PSD93 (DLG2) conjugated to an immunogenic carrier protein was used as the antigen.
