Description
VE-cadherin Polyclonal Antibody. Vascular endothelial cadherin (VE-cadherin, cadherin-5, CD144) belongs to the cadherin superfamily of proteins, which are calcium-dependent, protease-sensitive molecules that mediate homotypic cell-cell adhesion. Cadherins are transmembrane glycoproteins, localized at adherens junctions in cardiac cells and at intermediate junctions in intestinal epithelia. VE-cadherin functions as a classical cadherin by imparting to cells the ability to adhere in a homophilic manner, the protein may play an important role in endothelial cell biology through control of the cohesion and organization of the intercellular junctions and is located in a six-cadherin cluster in a region on the long arm of chromosome 16 that is in
