FUNCTION: Cation exchanger involved in pigmentation, possibly by participating in ion transport in melanosomes. Probably transports 1 Ca2+ and 1 K+ in exchange for 4 Na+. SUBCELLULAR LOCATION: Membrane, Multi-pass membrane protein. Melanosome.
