Description
Rabbit Anti-Rat KCNA4 polyclonal antibody for WB. Potassium voltage-gated channel subfamily A member 4 (UniProt P15385; also known as Potassium voltage-gated channel shaker-related subfamily member 4, RCK4, RHK1, RK3, Voltage-gated potassium channel subunit Kv1.4) is encoded by the Kcna4 gene (Gene ID 25469) in rat species. Voltage-gated K+ (Kv) currents play distinct roles in controlling neuronal responses to synaptic inputs and neurotransmitter release. Multiple types of Kv currents with distinct time- and voltage-dependent properties are generated, in part, through the expression of multiple Kv channel pore-forming (α) subunits, which are grouped into 12 classes (Kvα1 through Kvα12). These subunits are characterized by their functions into six different types: Delayed rectifier, A-type potassium channel, Outward-rectifying, Inwardly-rectifying, Slowly activating, Modifier/silencer. Kv α-subunits in subfamilies 1-4 contain an N-terminal A and B box (NAB) domain that allows subfamily-specific heteromerization, and heteromeric assemblies containing a mix of N-type and delayed rectifier α-subunits are known to occur in vivo. For example, Kv3.1-Kv3.4 and Kv1.1-Kv1.4 complexes generate neuronal N-type currents with intermediate rates of decay.
