Buccalin is a modulatory neuropeptide localized to an identified small cardioactive peptide-containing cholinergic motor neuron of Aplysia californica. Unlike the small cardioactive peptides, this peptide acts presynaptically on the nerve terminals to inhibit acetylcholine release.
