The SaOS-2 cell line was established from a 11 year old Caucasian female by J. Fogh in 1973. The patient was treated with RTG, methotrexate, adriamycin, vincristine, cytoxan, and aramycin-C. This cell line not tumorigenic in immunosuppressed mice, but did form colonies in semisolid medium.
