Nonstructural (NS) proteins of HCV play major roles in viral replication and the pathogenesis of liver diseases. The NS3 protein of hepatitis C virus (HCV) contains protease and RNA helicase activities, both of which are likely to be essential for HCV propagation. Recombinant HCV NS3 protein was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
