ARFs are important in eukaryotic vesicular trafficking pathways and play an essential role in the activation of phospholipase D. unlike many ARF family members, ARL5 is thought to lack ADP-ribosylation enhancing activity. ARL5A is developmentally regulated and may play a role in nuclear dynamics and signaling cascades during embryonic development. Recombinant human ARL5A protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
