eIF4A1 Antibody, ABfinity? Rabbit Oligoclonal. eIF4A2 is a 407 amino acid ATP-dependent RNA helicase belonging to the DEAD box helicase family. It contains one helicase ATP-binding domain and a helicase C-terminal domain. eIF4A2, a subunit of the eIF4F complex, acts as a protein-synthesis initiation factor and thus plays an important role in the binding of mRNA to the 43S pre-initiation complex of ribosomes. Human eIF4A2 interacts with the NS5B protein of Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and facilitates the genomic RNA synthesis of NS5B protein by unwinding the secondary structure of the HCV genome. It is ubiquitously expressed in most of normal tissues, but in variable amounts.
