An inhibitor of the Aβ and fibrinogen interaction; has a higher efficacy for the monomer form of Aβ bound to fibrinogen over the oligomer form; normalizes fibrin clot formation disrupted by the Aβ42-fibrinogen interaction (20 μM); decreases the incidence of vessel occlusion in Tg6799 mice, a model of Alzheimer's disease (35 mg/kg); decreases Aβ deposition in blood vessels and cortical fibrinogen infiltration and microgliosis in the brain of Tg6799 mice while improving spatial memory in chronically treated (35 mg/kg, s.c., every other day for 3 months) Tg6799 mice
