Description
Bcl-2-associated protein (Bax) belongs to the Bcl-protein family. Bax is propptotic Bcl-protein containing BH1, BH2 and BH3 domains. Bax accelerateprogrammed cell death by binding to, and antagonizing thepptosis pressor bcl2 or its adenovirus homolog e1b 19protein. Bax induces the release of cytochrome c, activation of cp3, and therebypptosis. Bax is pressed in a wide variety of tissues, with highest levels in the testis and ovary.
