Purity ~95% (SDS-PAGE). GDA, also known as guanine deaminase, catalyzes the hydrolytic deamination of guanine, producing xanthine and ammonia. Studies in rat ortholog suggest this gene plays a role in microtubule assembly. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. Source: Recombinant protein corresponding to aa1-454 from human GDA expressed in E. coli. Molecular Weight: ~51kD (454 aa) confirmed by MALDI-TOF Specific Activity: >2000pmol/min/ug, and is defined as the amount of enzyme that convert guanine to xanthine/minute at pH 8.0 at 37°C.
