N-tert-Butyldimethylsilyl-N-methyltrifluoroacetamide (MTBSTFA) is reagent used to silylate amines, hydroxyl, thiols and other polar functional groups. Derivatives formed from MTBSTFA are more stable than typical TMS derivatives. This reagent is often used to derivatize samples prior to GC or GCMS analysis.
