N-tert-Butyldimethylsilyl-N-methyltrifluoroacetamide (MTBSTFA) with 1 % TBDMCS is reagent used to silylate amines, hydroxyl, thiols and other polar functional groups. The derivatives formed from MTBSTFA with 1 % TBDMCS are more stable than TMS derivatives. This silylation reagent is commonlyused to derivatize samples prior to GC or GCMS analysis.
