Presporulation Medium is used on strains of yeast cells that do not sporulate efficiently, such as those that carry mutations that cause the cells to grow slowly or ferment poorly, are grown for 1 to 2 days before the cells are transferred to Sporulation Medium. Thus increasing sporulation effeciency.
