Plays a role in porphyrin homeostasis as it is able to mediates the export of protoporhyrin IX (PPIX) both from mitochondria to cytosol and from cytosol to extracellular space, and cellular export of hemin, and heme. BioVision's ABCG2 ELISA kit is a sandwich ELISA assay for the quantitative measurement of human ABCG2 in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants. The density of color is proportional to the amount of ABCG2 captured from the samples.
