It has both insecticidal and anthelmintic actions and is used in both agriculture and veterinary medicine. Abamectin can inhibit nicotinic acetylcholine receptors of worms. It can also inhibit chikungunya virus (EC50 = 1.5 μM) and yellow fever virus.
