Pituitary Extract, bovine (PEX) is an extract of bovine pituitary tissue containing growth factors. PEX can be used to promote the growth of several types of human epithelial cells in culture. Pituitary extract, bovine, is prepared using a modification of a published procedure. Prepared fresh, unfrozen glands to ensure maximal mitogenic response. It is not lyophilized, as this process has been shown to reduce biological activity. This product is an aqueous extract formulated at 14mg/mL crude protein.
