NGFRAP1, also called BEX3, can encode protein BEX3. BEX3 shuttles between the cytoplasm and the nucleus, and it associates with replicating mitochondria. BEX3 interacts with 14-3-3 epsilon(YWHAE) or DIABLO/SMAC to function as a signaling adapter molecule involved in p75NTR-mediated apoptosis induced by NGF.
