Coagulation factor VII, also known as Proconvertin, Serum prothrombin conversion accelerator, SPCA and F7, belongs to the peptidase S1 family. Coagulation factor VII is a secreted protein and exsits as a heterodimer, including a light chain and a heavy chain linked by a disulfide bond. Coagulation factor VII contains two EGF-like domains, one Gla domain and one peptidase domain. The main role of factor VII (FVII) is to initiate the process of coagulation in conjunction with tissue factor (TF/factor III).Coagulation factor VII is activated to FVIIa by different proteases, among which are thrombin (factor IIa), factor Xa, IXa, XIIa, and the FVIIa-TF complex itself.
