Function:Contactins mediate cell surface interactions during nervous system development. Has some neurite outgrowth-promoting activity. May be involved in synaptogenesis.Subcellular location: Cell membrane, Lipid-anchor, GPI-anchor. Secreted.Tissue specificity: Expressed in the region of developingolfactory neurons. Isoform 2 is expressed in mature sensory cells of thevomeronasal neuroepithelium and at lower level inolfactory neuroepithelium.Developmental stage: Expressed from E14 at a time when developing axons reach theolfactory bulb.
