The protein contains the guanine nucleotide binding site and is involved in the hormonal regulation of adenylate cyclase. Several transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been detected for this gene, but the full-length nature of only two are known so far. Recombinant human GNAI2 proetin, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
