Description
NY-ESO-1 Monoclonal Antibody (E978). NY-ESO-1, a member of the cancer/testis (CT) family, is a tumor-specific shared antigen with distinctive immunogenicity. Cancer/testis antigens are expressed in a range of malignant neoplasms such as melanoma and carcinomas of the breast, ovary and lung, but not in normal tissue except in testis. NY-ESO-1 reactivity in testis is restricted germ cells, particularly in the spermatogonia. NY-ESO-1 is a classic CT antigen discovered during a SEREX analysis of esophageal cancer. Among these antigens, NY-ESO-1 is of particular interest because both the cytotoxic T lymphocyte and antibody have been shown to react with this antigen. It is a 22-23 KDa hydrophobic protein.
