This protein is an essential component of the mitotic checkpoint, which prevents cells from prematurely exiting mitosis. It is required for the assembly of the dynein-dynactin and MAD1-MAD2 complexes onto kinetochores. Recombinant human ZWILCH protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E Coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
