Description
The antibody recognizes human CD46, a cofactor for factor I regulation of complement components C3b and C4b. CD46 is a widely distributed protein found on practically all peripheral blood cells except erythrocytes. CD46 contains an amino terminus of four short consensus repeating units (SCR). SCR 1 and 2 are involved mainly in measles virus (MV) binding and infection, while SCR 2, 3 and 4 are important for C3b degradation, and SCR 2 and 3 are important for C4b inactivation.
