Description
Epitope: CH1 has been reported to bind to the peptide region encoded by exon 9a of TPM genes [PMID: 24958154]; this exon is well conserved in all vertebrates. But, the binding of CH1 has also been described to be limited to alpha9a [PMID: 22069507]. CH1 reacts strongly with striated muscle forms of tropomyosin, including cardiac alpha-tropomyosin and skeletal alpha- and beta-tropomyosins, but not with tropomyosin isoforms from gizzard (smooth muscle) or chicken embryo fibroblasts. CH1 interferes with the binding of tropomyosin to actin. CH1 recognizes sarcomeric Tm soforms alpha-fast, beta, and alpha-slow with poor affinity for alpha-slow.
