Description
Glutathione Peroxidase Antibody LS-C56231. Detects human glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), a selenium-containing tetrameric enzyme found in mammalian erythrocytes. GSH-Px has an important role in protecting cellular and subcellular membranes from oxidative damage, and functions to detoxify peroxide though the reduction of hydrogen peroxide and organic peroxides. An increase in GSH-Px in tumor cells may be associated with resistance to drugs that act by generating reactive oxygen species, for example doxorubicin.
