This protein recognizes and binds histone H3 tails methylated at 'Lys-9', leading to epigenetic repression. It involved in the formation of functional kinetochore through interaction with MIS12 complex proteins. Recombinant human CBX3 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography.
