DescriptionRabbit Anti-Human CENPT polyclonal antibody for ICC, WB, Dot. Centromere protein T (UniProt Q96BT3; also known as CENP-T, Interphase centromere complex protein 22) is encoded by the CENPT (also known as C16orf56, ICEN22) gene (Gene ID 80152) in human. Kinetochore complex-mediated chromosome interaction with microtubules from the mitotic spindle is essential for proper chromosome segregation during mitosis. The kinetochore is a macromolecular structure composed of almost 100 different proteins assembled upon the centromere in a cell cycle-regulated manner. CENP-T and 15 other chromatin proximal proteins constitute the Constitutive Centromere Associated Network (CCAN) present at centromeres throughout the cell cycle. Some CCAN proteins (e.g. CENPT/W complex and CENP-C) mediate DNA binding, while others (e.g. CENP-N) interact directly with CENP-A-containing nucleosomes. Evidence suggests that CENP-C and the CENP-T/W complex function as core kinetochore assembly factors in vertebrate cells.
