ULP family members consist of a C-terminal core catalytic domain and N-terminal extensions determining substrate specificity. SENP8, a 24KDa protein, plays a major role in regulating NEDD8 pathway. It processes preNEDD8 to its mature form and deconjugates NEDD8 from substrates such as Cullins and p53.
